Custom & Multi-Level Deck Building in Clark County, WA
Single-level, multi-level, wrap-around and elevated custom decks — designed for your home, your lot, and how your family actually lives outside.
Custom decks built for Clark County living
A custom deck should fit your house and your hillside — not come out of a catalog. We design and build single-level and multi-level decks, wrap-arounds, elevated and hillside decks, benches, planters, lighting, and privacy screens, all sized to your yard.
From a simple ground-level entertaining space in east Vancouver to a multi-level hillside build up on Prune Hill in Camas, we handle the design, engineering, footings, framing, decking, and railings with our own crew. No rotating subcontractors, no cut corners on the parts you can't see.
What goes into a custom deck
- Footings & framing engineered for your soil, slope, and load — the part cheap builders skimp on.
- Decking in your choice of premium composite/Trex or cedar and pressure-treated wood.
- Railings — composite, aluminum, cable, or glass to protect your view.
- Extras — built-in seating, lighting, stairs, pergolas, and privacy walls.

FAQ
Custom Decks questions
What counts as a custom deck?
Any deck designed for your specific home and lot rather than a stock shape — multi-level, wrap-around, elevated, curved, or decks with built-in seating, planters, lighting and privacy screens.
Can you build a multi-level deck?
Yes. Multi-level decks are ideal for sloped lots and for separating zones like dining, lounging and a hot tub. We engineer the framing and stairs between levels to code.
Do you design the deck or do I need plans?
We handle the design. We'll lay out the deck, help you pick materials and railing, and produce what's needed for the permit — you don't need to bring your own plans.
Can you match my home's style?
Absolutely. We match decking color, railing style and trim to your home, whether it's a craftsman in Hough or a modern build in Ridgefield.
What decking materials can I choose for a custom deck?
Pressure-treated wood, cedar, or composite/Trex in a range of colors, plus composite, aluminum, cable or glass railing. We'll show you options for your budget.
Can you build around a hot tub or fire feature?
Yes — we frame for the added load of a hot tub and integrate steps, skirting and clearances. Fire features are planned for safe clearances and local code.
Do you build hillside or elevated custom decks?
Yes, and they're a specialty. Sloped lots in Camas, Washougal and Felida need engineered footings and taller posts, which we design for your grade.
Can you add built-in benches, planters or lighting?
Yes. Built-in seating, planters, post-cap and stair lighting, and pergolas are popular add-ons we build right into the design.
How long does a custom deck take to build?
Most custom decks take one to three weeks on-site once the permit is issued and materials arrive. Larger multi-level builds take longer; we give you a fixed schedule.
Do I need a permit for a custom deck?
Almost always — custom decks are usually larger, attached, or more than 30 inches high, all of which require a permit in Clark County. We pull it for you.
Can you build a wrap-around deck?
Yes. Wrap-around decks work well on corner lots and homes with multiple exits; we plan the transitions, stairs and railing so it flows around the house.
What railing options do you offer?
Composite, aluminum, cable and glass. Cable and glass keep views open on view lots; composite and aluminum are durable, low-maintenance standards.
Can you incorporate privacy screens?
Yes — privacy walls and lattice screens are great for close neighbors or hot-tub areas, and we build them to match the deck.
Do you build pergolas or shade structures with the deck?
Yes. Pergolas, shade sails and partial covers pair well with custom decks; we can design them together so the posts and footings are integrated.
How do you handle drainage under an elevated deck?
On elevated decks we can add under-deck drainage systems so the space below stays dry and usable — useful in our rainy climate.
Can I get a design before committing?
Yes. We provide a layout/design and a written quote so you can see and approve the deck before any work starts.
What's the maintenance on a custom composite deck?
Just periodic washing. Composite doesn't need sanding, staining or sealing, so a custom composite deck stays looking new with minimal effort.
Do you build decks for new construction?
Yes — we work with homeowners on newly built homes across Ridgefield and east Vancouver that came with no deck or a builder-grade one.
What's your warranty on a custom deck?
A written workmanship warranty for as long as you own your home, plus the manufacturer's material warranty on composite products.
How do I start a custom deck project?
Send us your ideas, photos and town through the quote form. We'll respond the same day and set up a design conversation.
